Family-fun events are happening in and around the City of Boston. There are amazingly clever clowns, outstanding musicals, dancing extravaganzas and classic stories to tell. Boston has some of the best spring art festivals and events to entertain all members of the family. Get ready to enjoy the sights, sounds and special events in the city.

Big Apple Circus 2016: The Grand Tour

The Big Apple Circus is performed in a big top, which is  set up in the center of the city on City Hall Plaza. Under the big top there are jugglers, clowns, horses, dogs and trapeze artists who perform entertaining acts under the direction of an entertaining ring mistress. Every seat in the tent is less than 50 feet from the ring, so everyone in attendance has a great view of the spectacular performance. A live band entertains at the show, which has a backdrop of ships, train, automobiles and airplanes, representing The Grand Tour.

This entertaining musical brings Roald Dahl’s 1988 classic story to life on the Boston Opera House stage. Matilda is a precocious little girl who is smart beyond her year but has some trouble with her personal relationships, especially her headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, and teacher, Miss Honey. Matilda is funny, charming, mischievous and lovable. The epic song When I Grow Upwas made popular by Matilda.

An inventor, found inside his amazing curio cabinet, turns the world upside down when he tries to reinvent everything around him. The Curios-Cabinet of Curiosities setting evokes the feeling of a Victorian carnival, which is set in the latter half of the 19th century. The Cirque Du Soleil show includes aerial acrobatics, contortionists and clowns to entertain a mesmerized audience.

The classic story of the Wizard of Oz comes alive on the stage with Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and Toto as they travel to the Land of Oz at the Citi Performing Arts Center. The Wicked Witch of the West and the winged monkeys make their appearance along the group’s journey. The music is enchanting and will carry the audience over the rainbow and beyond.

River dance returns to Boston on its 20th Anniversary World Tour. True and entertaining Irish traditions are wonderfully portrayed as the show features Irish dancing and music with energy in abundance. The show combines dance, music and song with the richness of the Irish culture. The audience will leave the theater invigorated, entertained and ready to carry on the Irish traditions.
